Prior to working as a scenic artist I earned my BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2010. My studio work focused on the relationship of people to their natural surroundings. I used common visual vocabularies to ask viewers to examine their own place within a shared environment. My interest in the ways people act within and upon their physical world- and the visual marks created as a result- continues to inform my practice as a scenic artist.

After completing my bachelor's degree I trained as a technical intern in Scenic Art at the Yale School of Drama. l have been consistently painting for professional regional theater- both as a scenic charge and as a scenic artist- beginning with my time at Yale. The practical production experience I gained as a student and working scenic artist has provided me the opportunity to work with both graduate student and established professional scenic designers.

I enjoy aiding  designers and the respective creative teams in the realization of a collective artistic vision. The constraints imposed by a production timeline require creative, resourcesful solutions and problem solving, which in turn pushes me to expand my own technical and artistic abilities. I love transforming raw materials into a visual whole. No matter how realistic or fanciful the scenic design, I thrive on the challenge of working as part of a team to bring an idea into the audiences' world in its full-scale manifestation.
